Black Coffee Apparel Sponsors Akwesasne Girls Skate Day 2026

On Saturday, May 9, the skateboarding community will come together for Girls Skate Day 2026 at the Akwesasne Skatepark — an afternoon focused on skateboarding, creativity, music, and community connection.

Hosted by Akwesasronon Melani Arquette and Kemptville skateboarder Ashlynn Barrett Tucker, the event welcomes girls of all skill levels to take part in a day built around encouragement, learning, and self-expression through skateboarding.

At Black Coffee Apparel, we’re proud to support events that help grow skate culture in communities across Ontario while creating inclusive spaces for the next generation of skaters. For this year’s event, we contributed a range of prizing including apparel and skateboards that will be given away throughout the day.

The event will feature:

  • Skate lessons for all skill levels
  • Games and a mini ramp contest
  • Live music from DJ Crystal Stehlin
  • A performance by Feryn King
  • Skater portraits by Jaiden Mitchell
  • A tie-dye workshop hosted by Tihanna Benedict
  • Community connection and wellness activities

Girls Skate Day 2026 is being supported by MCA Akwesasne Child & Family Services (ACFS) and the MCA Department of Economic Development, helping bring together skateboarding, art, music, and youth engagement in Akwesasne.

As a brand rooted in independent culture, art, and skateboarding, supporting grassroots events like this is important to us. Skateboarding has always been about community — creating spaces where people can learn, express themselves, and feel welcome regardless of experience level.

We’re honoured to play a small part in an event that highlights that spirit.

If you’re in the area this weekend, stop by and support the event.
